Breaking Down the Project: Creative Hub

"A Creative Hub can be defined as a space that induces Creative Thinking, which is a combination of creativity, curiosity and communication. A place where designers meet ordinary people to bring creative influences and creative acts".

 Creativity is something that inspires me. To see people of different creative backgrounds and fields come together to create beautiful things for others to enjoy is amazing. In Port Elizabeth, there are so many young adults with so many talents, skills and creative abilities that are not being recognised or seen. It is because of this that the main focus of my 2019 project was born - to create a creative hub for young adults and students to be able to design, produce and sell their own unique products in one space. A space where people from different creative fields can work and conduct business under one roof so that they can inspire others, become recognised....and of course make money.

A key focus of my project is therefore students and making sure that they have a space which is both enticing and creative, enjoyable to be in and caters for their needs and requirements as per their respective fields and skills. Students today are incredible creative, entrepreneurial and determined and I want to create a space which embodies those traits and allows them to show those traits to the rest of Port Elizabeth.

Within this project I will be interviewing local Port Elizabethan student-run businesses and writing about them in this blog. Word-of-mouth can only do so much.
