The two hour turnover

It's no secret that I haven't been ridiculously motivated lately....actually, that's an understatement, I haven't been motivated AT ALL. In fact, this entire year thus far had me questioning my career, study choices, working hours; let alone my mediocre sleeping efforts and failed attempts at being healthy. It's been quite a rollercoaster to say the least, and although I still have minor whiplash from all the ups and downs, I think the wild ride has come to a peaceful cruise...at least for now.

Now, this wasn't a long journey to nirvana and spending hours meditating on myself and my goals. Actually, it was the exact opposite. And it literally took 2 hours. Within 2 hours, my whole year changed.
A few days ago, we arrived to our early morning design class (side note: designing at 8:30 in the morning is no easy feat) with the intention of slowly catching up on work, having a laugh or two and maybe getting a new project brief. Well, our lecturer had a very, very different idea in mind. She promptly looked at us, grinned and announced that we had two hours to design 5 three-dimensional spaces for our building. Two. Hours. Now, bearing in mind that one space usually takes me about a day, I subsequently had a miniature "why the hell am I studying this" episode, and strapped myself in for the ride.

Two hours and 5 spaces later. Looking back I still don't know how I pulled it off. And, it is by far the best design work I've done all year (not that it's brilliant mind, but it's a pretty good start). Within 2 hours my lecturer took me from a hopeless, self-pitying glob to a motivated, challenged designer with a new outlook on her project and the upcoming year. I am so excited to start sharing my designs (finally) and having new energy to work. And although exams are coming up and I'm brutally terrified, within 2 hours my lecturer proved to me that I can handle it.

So from a finally motivated me, even if it takes a while, never doubt yourself. Your 2 hours will come....
