Measuring up - Yes, again

Measuring up isn't for the faint of heart. Especially when you've already done it for about 4 days. Now, I love my building and its details and characteristics, It's incredibly unique and has a beautiful character. However, I love this building a little less when I have to measure up the 25 plug points in each room. Suddenly, those quaint details become impervious hazards and the unique character gives way to unnecessary design decisions. But, we power on...

Measuring up is probably my least favourite part of what I study, and unfortunately, one of the most crucial elements to execute successfully. This time around, we measured the electrical and lighting layouts and, trust me, easier said than done. Half the time is a guessing-game of accurate estimations and looking like you're taking part in a stretch aerobics class. It also doesn't help when the laser pointer has a mind of its own and enjoys messing you around with wild assumptions of 12m spaces being 300mm...ahh technology. Man's best and worst friend.

Yes this took dreadfully long and yes I might be extremely tired of electrical symbols and measuring tapes, but the whole process is strangely gratifying. To be able to look at the technical drawings and think "I measured that" - It's the small things. So until the next measuring up mission (because you know there will be one) I'll be here, mentally preparing for the upcoming exams and dreading the looming all nighters...
