Looking back: 4 years of interior design

Today I want to take a break from writing about my project and reminisce my varsity career which is slowly coming to an end. I still remember the first day of first year - feeling so important and terrified at the same time. Ah first year, when all your notebooks still come from Typo and your diary has pretty highlighted sections everywhere. Although it doesn't seem like it at the time, first year is a very happy-go-lucky and experimental year. You learn a lot about yourself, your future career...and your mental stamina. Where every day we dressed in our best casual wear and our makeup and hair was impeccable - as a 4th year I can now spot a first year from a mile away.

Take it to second year and enter the worst year of my varsity career. If there was a year that I was going to drop out, it would've been this one. However, thinking back, my best memories are sitting as a class having crits in coffee shops, experiencing our first late nights and finding ourselves as designers and creatives. Although this year really and truly very much - for lack of a better word - sucked, it still shaped me as the designer I am today.

Third year. Diploma year. Wow. I cannot count the amount of all nighters, coffee trips and late-night rants. This is the year your stunning outer appearance changes to that of a troll in sweatpants and slippers with no makeup - and even going into grocery stores like that. Your pretty Typo notebooks have changed into free ones you grab at every convention and even the time spent eating becomes questionable. But, this is probably the year (so far) where I have the most memories and laughs.

As for 4th year...I think you have a pretty good idea of how it's going. All-in-all, I'm going to miss varsity. The all nighters turned into group motivation sessions and laughing fits, and the immense work load becomes a sense of pride. So 6 more months to go - I say with an equally happy and sore heart....
